Why it matters
Building an inclusive future is essential to addressing the societal challenges we face today. Equal opportunities in the profession and access to the built environment are key to achieving social justice and creating more sustainable solutions for everyone.
We believe that through knowledge sharing, storytelling, and ongoing dialogue, we can make meaningful progress toward a more diverse and inclusive future.
By bringing together professionals from various fields, we gain a unique opportunity to approach challenges from multiple perspectives and collaboratively find new solutions.
By creating a platform we amplify the voices of those often unheard, fostering a community where change can thrive.
What we do
Building Diversity challenges both the physical and systemic barriers that limit equal opportunities in the built environment through advocacy, knowledge-sharing, and community-building:
Supporting changemakers
We believe in fostering a community of changemakers—those who are committed to creating an inclusive built environment. We facilitate dialogue that welcomes diverse perspectives, including those who may challenge our views. By providing a platform for collaboration and discussion, we empower individuals to drive meaningful change in architecture and urban planning.
Building emotional facts
At Building Diversity, numbers represent people. To make data relatable and actionable, we combine human stories with facts. By collecting and sharing personal experiences alongside quantitative data, we bring emotional depth to discussions about diversity and equality, making it easier to understand and act upon these critical issues.
Inclusive and diverse narration
We work to challenge and transform stereotypical narratives within architecture by promoting new voices and stories. Our communication activities—including lectures, publications, workshops, and exhibitions—highlight the importance of diverse perspectives.
Expanding communities
By building an inclusive and supportive network of professionals, students, and stakeholders, we create opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Our networking and social events provide spaces for individuals to share ideas, expand their perspectives, and inspire others.
